Patron FAQs
Are you interested in attending Rosies outreach but unsure what to expect? We’ve compiled a list of commonly asked questions to take some of the anxiety out of trying something new.
What is outreach?
Outreach is what we call our sessions that we conduct in the local community, our vans provide drinks, snacks, and conversation to anyone who would like to join us. We currently operate 216 outreaches in 14 locations across Queensland. For information on your location outreach please click here.
What are patrons?
Patrons are the people who come to visit us on outreach and our sole reason for existing. We love meeting and chatting with new friends.
Who can come to outreach?
Anyone who is having a tough time can come to outreach, we accept all individuals regardless of gender, race, cultural background, or religious affiliation.
I’m not homeless, can I still come to outreach?
Of course! We’d love to share a cuppa with anyone who wants to join us.
Can I bring my pet to outreach?
We love when our patrons bring their furry friends, but please keep them on a leash at all times not only for their safety but for the safety of other patrons in attendance.
Can I bring alcohol to outreach?
We have a strict no alcohol policy at our outreaches and ask that patrons do not bring it into our area.
Can I smoke on outreach?
We have a strict no smoking policy at our outreaches and ask that patrons do not smoke within 1.5m of the van.
How often does outreach get cancelled?
We try to avoid cancelling outreach unless we are specifically required to by government mandate (ie COVID lockdown) or if there is hail or lighting due to the safety of our volunteers and patrons. If we do have to cancel an outreach we post a message on Facebook, please follow us there to keep up to date with any outreach changes or updates.
What can I get from Rosies?
We offer community and connection through simple hospitality items such as tea/coffee/milo, instant noodle cups, snacks, etc. We are not a food service although all of our vans have food items the variety and amount varies dependent upon location and day. We are also a collection point for BackPack Beds and Share the Dignity bags as well as other items that are generously donated by the local community.
Can you provide me with a food parcel or vouchers?
We do not provide food parcels or vouchers, however dependent on the outreach there may be pantry items, fresh fruit & veg, or other staples that you may take with you. This is dependent on other partner organisations and is not always available. *Please note this service is not available in Brisbane City
I need emergency housing, can you help?
We do not have housing or accommodation available as a part of our services. We can however can provide you with some information on who to contact in your local area.
