HeartWorks
an initiative of Rosies – Friends on the Street
Since 1987, Rosies – Friends on the Street has provided comfort, connection and friendship to those experiencing homelessness, disadvantage and loneliness.
As a community honoring the Oblate spirit of Daring, we have always sought new ways to continue to reach out to those in need with an open heart.
Whether that be through a warm cuppa, a hearty meal, or just a friendly chat, our 1650 volunteers provide a safe place for vulnerable people to belong.
In 2024 we extended our outreach model to include HeartWorks.
HeartWorks, developed in collaboration with Jesuit Social Services (VIC), is an employment pathway program that looks to provide sustained employment opportunities for a small number of people in genuine need.
The name HeartWorks builds upon the message of the Rosies prayer where the heart is the doorway to meaningful connection, providing the best opportunity for a person to experience positive and purposeful outcome and the dignity of work.
One of the participants in our pilot has just “completed” the program and we wanted to share his success with you. Please click here to Meet John.
