The gift of music

Long term patron Mick presents Branch Coordinator Anne with new boom box

We are always amazed at the generousness of our patrons and the willingness to give out of what they have. The giving of their gifts, material or financial, to bring joy to others within their local outreach is inspirational.

One night, a few months ago, our bright pink boom box decided to pack it in. It was casually mentioned to the patrons that we would seek out a donation for a replacement.

Last month, we were surprised and overwhelmed with the presentation of a new boom box from Mick and Mary, two of our long term patrons. We were blown away by the humbleness of the givers and the attitude of ‘It’s no big deal. After all, you Rosies volunteers do so much for us so this is just a little thing we could do in return.’

Incidentally, Mick travels on the train from Nambour every Friday night just to be with his Rosies family. What a beautiful setting to be a part of and see the way music brings our patrons young and old together.

We have another patron who regularly takes patrons home that have missed the last train or bus.

Our outreach at Caboolture is such a loving, supportive and strong family who are always looking out for each other. How blessed are we as Rosies volunteers to not only be a part of this but to provide a safe environment in which all of this can happen.
