Our People: GC North Branch Coordinator Teresa Bettles

Across Queensland, Rosies operates in 14 different places. These places called “branches” are all run by volunteers; most having both a Branch Coordinator and a Deputy Branch Coordinator.

Teresa Bettles, Southport/ Nerang Branch CoordinatorThe coordinator supports the branch and volunteers, by creating a warm, safe place for all. Day to day, you’ll find them looking after all things related to outreach and ensuring there is a team to take the van out and that there is ample coffee, tea, biscuits etc to share with our friends on the street.

Teresa is our Southport/ Nerang Branch Coordinator and has been with Rosies since 2002.

Teresa loves volunteering with Rosies because she enjoys creating a sense of belonging and community for those who are often ignored or shunned.

“It is easy for the majority of our community to make assumptions about people that are sleeping rough and struggling financially, but when you hear their stories the reason for being in their current situation can be so different to what we expect” Teresa shares.

Teresa enjoys her role as branch coordinator with Rosies because she likes supporting the volunteers so they can go on outreach and focus on the patrons without the worry of logistics.

We are so grateful for Teresa and for all of our volunteers Queensland wide.

If you are interested in supporting the Southport/ Nerang branch please get in touch with Teresa on [email protected] or if you are looking to volunteer please visit the branch page.
